Torquay Restaurants and Food & Drink

Torquay has a very wide range of restaurants, cafes and takeaways as it is one of the largest towns in Devon, all the way from Michelin star rated restaurants to characterful cafes.

At the top end of visitor’s budgets are The Orchid Restaurant and The Elephant Restaurant which is Michelin star rated and offers fine dining in the The Room and informal lunch and dinner in The Brasserie on the ground floor.

There are many other options of course, on nearby Torwood Street, where restaurants include Hooks, Simla Spice and The Orange Tree amongst others.

Toquay has developed a cosmopolitan cafe culture around the inner harbour where there are a number of cafe bars with outside seating – perfect for the areas mild climate. Around the harbour you will also find fish and chip takeaways and national brand pubs Wetherspoons and Harvester. And for food with a view, try the Cafe @ Living Coasts, sited above the attraction, with views out across the marina towards Paignton.

Torquay is home to a Waitrose and Sainsburys, or visit Occombe Farm on the outskirts of the town. This working farm sells a wide range of locally produced food and drink including meat and fish, West Country cheeses and dairy produce. The farm is free to visit and has a 2km nature trail and cafe where you can enjoy the produce first hand.
