Previously known as children’s week, Torbay Carnival is a week-long series of events held around the Green in Paignton. It is timed to coincide with the first week of the school summer holidays, so takes place around the last week in July.
There are numerous events taking place throughout the 9 days, including:
- A classic car show
- A funfair
- Live music
- Children’s entertainment for different age groups
- Demonstrations and competitions
- And not forgetting the carnival procession
Pirate entertainment at the 2011 Torbay Carnival
The diversity of entertainment and fun is truly impressive and looking at the programme for 2011, everyone will find something to enjoy. Each of the 9 nine days offers something from 10.00am or 11.00am in the morning through to the late afternoon and into the evenings on certain nights. Some of the highlights for 2011 include Zumba dancing, a town crier competition, a beach party, a strongman competition and a wheelbarrow competition, though I’m not sure what this involves….
