As a predominantly family focussed resort, the restaurant options are geared towards this market. There are a fair number of family friendly pubs on and around the sea front made up of national chains and independent bars They include the Talk of the Town (Wetherspoons) the Inn on the Green (on the seafront) and the Inn on the Quay over in Goodrington Park. There is variety of other choices however, from the Harbour Light on Paignton harbour, to the Indian Ocean, Caseys American Diner on the Totnes Road and the Shoreline with a seafront location in the centre of Paignton promenade.
In the town centre there are also a number of more traditional cafes and takeaways serving fish and chips, Italian, Indian and Chinese food.
Also in the centre of town there is a Tesco Local with larger supermarkets on the outskirts in the shape of Morrisons near Paignton Zoo and Sainsburys on the ring road.
There is one local producer of note – Bays Brewery was set up in Paignton only a few years ago and has become a local success story selling a range of beers across South Devon and beyond. Check it out if you are in one of the local pubs.
