In the centre of Paignton, on the seafront, there is modern multiplex cinema with 9 screens showing a wide range of the latest films.
For entertainment on stage, Paignton also has a theatre – the Palace at the top end of the town centre with a diverse range of performances including plays, tribute bands and seasonal runs including summer spectaculars and a pantomime at Christmas.
Back on the seafront, live music is performed at the Spinning Wheel Inn where local bands play every night of the week.
Events in Paignton
As a popular holiday destination, Paignton hosts many events throughout the year, typically around school holidays. Torbay Children’s Week in early August sees a wide range of entertainment and activities on Paignton Green opposite the pier. The Green is host to many other events and activities from fun fairs to locally organised sports events.
BMAD (charity Bikers Make A Difference) organise motorcycle meetings on a Wednesday evening through the summer. BMAD also run a popular festival during the May Day weekend which includes stunt riders, trade stands and a bike show, as well as live music throughout the weekend.
Activity-wise, the calm sheltered waters of Tor Bay provides visitors to Paignton with lots of opportunities to take to the water. On Goodrington Beach visitors can take a speedboat ride or hire a kayak or pedalo for a more relaxed waterbound experience.
Near Goodrington, Torbay Leisure Centre has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and spa.
