Woodlands Family Theme Park

Woodlands LogoNestled in the unspoilt rolling countryside of the South Hams in South Devon lies Woodlands Family Theme Park; a 90 acre mix of rides for young and old.

Woodlands is 5 miles from Dartmouth towards Totnes on the A3122 opposite Dartmouth Golf Club. While the countryside location means the car is the easiest way to visit with a free spacious car park on arrival. There is a bus service between Torquay and Dartmouth, the X81, which stops outside Woodlands.

Rides and Activities

As the name suggested, the park is set in woodland with a number of inclines. The rides are laid out to make the most of the countryside, with something new to discover around each corner. For a full list of what to do at Woodlands, see their website. Some of the highlights include:

  • Family thrill rides include the Water Coasters, Tornado Toboggan Run and the Sea Dragon Swing Ship.
  • Woodlands MeercatsOver 125,000 sq. ft. of indoor fun with a vertical drop ride, slides, mini ferris wheel and 5 floors of soft play area to lose yourself in.
  • Ninja Towers for older sisters and brothers while Mini Ninjas can enjoy the under 5’s adventure course, challenges and slides.
  • Woodlands has continually looked to develop the range of activities for visitors each year with recent additions including the Zoo Farm which includes parrots, meercats, the farm animals and baby animals to enjoy.

New for 2012 – the Dinosaur Farm

Drive man sized tractors past baby Pteradactyles cuddling up to giant mum in the Dinosaur Farm.  Look for giant eggs hatching in the Maternity wing and encounter Jurassic baby monsters round every corner.

There is a lot to do at Woodlands and they have managed to offer a broad reach of rides and attractions so every age group will find plenty to do, both indoors and outdoors. Also watch out for the special events held through the year such as Halloween, and the visit of children’s characters.


Finally, like many other attractions today, Woodlands have a great offer for visitors. Visitors can return to the park for free within 6 days of their visit. A second day at Woodlands is a great way to enjoy all the attractions, as you are not rushing around trying to fit in all the rides and activities, and, being familiar with the layout, you can enjoy the day even more; take it from someone who has been there…
